Leather is a sturdy and long-lasting fabric but just like everything else, it requires a little bit of tender loving care/care. These are examples of a few things you can avoid getting on your leather: sunblock, hairspray, perfume, and nail varnish. Any liquid that contains alcohol will cause a little discoloring, and in worse cases, sometimes the leather dissolving. This also goes for certain wet wipes that contain alcohol in them. If you were in a situation where you needed to tend to the damage immediately, here’s what you should do:

• Grease stains: Blot out the grease with a dry, soft cloth. Then, sprinkle some talcum powder over it and leave it for a bit. Then brush it off using one with soft bristles.
• Water stains: Dry out the spill with a cloth and leave it to dry.
• Ink stains: This one might be a little harder to remove compared to the rest, and you might need professional help. It all depends on the type of ink, and how bad the stain is.

When you’re cleaning, remember to always wipe in a circular motion, and never scrub. The gentler, the better. Don’t ever use harsh chemicals, detergents, or alcohol to clean because it will damage the leather way more than a stain could.
